The New York Propane Gas Association has been offering scholarships to colleges across the state since 2010, and has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars helping students in fire science and HVAC programs to become fully trained technicians and safety professionals with a sound understanding of propane to support increased demand in the industry.
Over 30 new students at colleges across the state have been named recipients of the John Ganey Memorial Scholarship for students training to become HVAC technicians, and the Elbert Stillwaggon Memorial Scholarship for students training to become professional firefighters. Recipients are full-time second year students who demonstrate financial need, with preference given to those interested in propane technology.
The Association also created a video that features students from Erie Community College, Hudson Valley Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College, and Schenectady County Community College. It’s available on the NYPGA website at www.nypropane.com/about-nypga/scholarship-news.
