The annual public relations conference held by the Public Relations Society of America’s Northeast District “PRxNE” (“PR by Northeast”) was a great success. The event drew hundreds of communications professionals to Corning, NY for a weekend filled with professional development, networking and sightseeing!
The conference was supported significantly by efforts from Strategic Communications’ own Crystal DeStefano, former Central New York Chapter President and former Northeast District Chair, and Kelly Gaggin, another former Central New York Chapter President for PRSA.
This Year’s Focus:
With the theme “PR Means Business” this year’s public relations conference focused on case studies from public relations projects that successfully contributed to economic development across the Northeast, and each organization’s bottom line – which is probably the most important factor what measuring the success of a public relations effort.
DeStefano explains: “Everything we do as public relations practitioners must directly support the bottom line. Our ideas, strategies, tactics, and measurement must all be tied directly to the business goals and the success of our organizations and our communities. We have seen a tremendous boom of economic development in the Finger Lakes region, throughout New York State, and across the Northeast District, and so much of our work as PR practitioners has supported these efforts, whether through tourism, cultural development or the success of the companies we work for.”
Getting Ready for Next Year:
In fact, the Northeast District’s public relations conference has become so successful, that leaders from the Northeast will be presenting their conference model at PRSA’s International Conference in October 2017.
Both DeStefano and Gaggin are already very involved in helping the Northeast District leadership to plan next year’s conference, PRxNE18.
